Overview

What is the Housing Solutions for Health Office?

The Housing Solutions for Health Office is a Mental Health Services Act (MHSA)-supported unit of the Alameda County Health Care Services Agency focused on ensuring people living with a serious behavioral health condition have a place to call home.

The Office currently supports the following efforts:

  • Creating new and supporting existing permanent supportive housing and licensed board and care opportunities for people living with a serious mental illness that are homeless or at-risk of homelessness;
  • Funding and coordinating supportive services for homeless individuals with serious mental illness and other health conditions;
  • Managing the Home Stretch unit that oversees eligibility and matching to permanent supportive housing units for Alameda County’s Coordinated Entry System;
  • Supporting the Alameda County Independent Living Association (ILA) and its efforts to promote high quality room and board operations for seniors and people living with disabilities;
  • Managing emergency shelter beds for homeless individuals living with a serious mental illness;
  • Providing one-time flexible financial assistance to pay for housing costs to prevent or end homelessness for individuals with behavioral health and other health care needs;
  • Development and maintenance of housing search websites;
  • Providing housing-related training and education;
  • Actively participating in Alameda County’s EveryOne Home effort to end homelessness
