Community Based Learning Trainings – Advancing Efforts to Improve Health Outcomes
Community Based Learning Trainings are free to Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services (ACBH) systems partners, faith based communities and non-profit organizations that want to improve health outcomes for consumers and family members in the areas of mental health and substance use disorders. Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services Ethnic Services Department is able to offer trainings through funding from Prop 63, the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA).

Trainings are based on curriculums and program designs developed through the ACBH Innovations Grant Program where demonstration projects were formulated around learning questions developed through needs assessments and utilization reports. Additional trainers are recruited to address gaps and trends identified through ACBH MHSA community input processes.

Trainer Children Hospital Oakland – Early Intervention Services
Free Brown is a licensed psychotherapist with over 10 years of experience. She is a clinician, consultant, and program developer. Her populations of interest are the unhoused, veterans, reentry, those living with HIV/AIDS, youth, adults, and the elderly. She is the founder of Sankofa Garden, which seeks to merge mental health counseling, horticulture therapy, and sustainable food production. She is the owner of Thera Share, a co-working space for Black therapists and therapists of color. Her current research explores biofeedback and EMDR for African Americans with compound trauma. She intends to foster a continuum of care that will serve the systematically oppressed with solution-based interventions, ongoing research, and reproducible models.CBL trainings that address the needs of Vietnamese (all age ranges)
